INKspire Creative Camps
"Writing is boring. Too hard. No fun." I understood the frustration behind students who made those comments, but I knew a better mindset was waiting 'round the corner.  And that corner was called INKspire Creative Camps.  I knew if students were actively involved in creative activities that made the brain happy (a researched fact) like music, skits, art,  games, and hearing great speakers, they could see the possibilities of  writing  as interesting and fun. Maybe initially too hard, but rewarding with practice and encouragement.
We really are INKspire  Mindset camp, but that name definitely sounds boring and no fun. The comment from virtually every parent: the enthusiasm after Day One is incredible (except for being  on location at 9 am).  I still remember a text from a parent of a 6th grade boy who insisted this camp was "too much like school" and "I don't want to come."  TEXT read:  "What did you do? My son is lying on the floor in his bedroom writing in a notebook." And for those students who love writing, welcome to a Disneyland-type experience.
